I don’t want you to maximize your potential.
I’ve been thinking about the way we talk about potential.
Maximize it.
Reach it.
Become your highest self.
Close the gap between who you are and who you could be.
And I wonder if we’ve gotten the whole thing backwards.
What if the work isn’t to become more?
What if the work is to become more intimate with ourselves?
To notice the parts of us that resist being fully expressed.
The parts that learned to stay small.
The parts that perform.
The parts that seek approval.
The parts that believe we have to become someone else to be worthy of belonging.
I don’t want to help you become the most optimized version of yourself.
I want to help you know yourself well enough to recognize when you are abandoning yourself.
Because underneath all of that striving, there is an essence that doesn't need to be manufactured.
You cannot not be who you are.
So perhaps the question isn’t:
How do I become who I’m meant to be?
Perhaps it’s:
What keeps getting in the way of who I already am?
