Hello…
I am Tania Ortiz Welch…mother, teacher, writer, somatic practitioner, and counseling astrologer. I’m also the founder of Intent Space.
My life, as I know it now, began after a great tragedy. In the early hours of September 29th, 2003 I learned that my husband had been killed in a car accident. Life as I once knew suddenly became unrecognizable and unbearable. I was 32 years old, mama to an 18-month old little boy and I was now a widow. As l limped through my days it became quite clear that I had a decision to make...either be defeated or live the life I imagined with courage, intention, and great joy!
I chose the latter!
How It Began…
A virtual space (a.k.a a blog) which I named indobay became an expression of my journey...my journey from grief and uncertainty to resilience and deep, soul happiness derived from living a creative, intentional and simple life aligned with what mattered most. Living within the spirit of indobay helped me to re-connect with myself, pay exquisite attention to my life and my choices and navigate into the best life for myself and my little man.

A Fire Was Lit…
My journey went through many incarnations over the years. At the center of it all, wellbeing, connection and creativity were always consistent anchors. I longed to share with others, and to bring together a community of folks yearning for more clarity, creativity and community.
In 2017, Intent Space, was born. Intent Space existed to support each other in transitioning to a more intentional, meaningful way of living. Through simple movement, meditation, self-care practices, inspired events, ritual and ceremony my hope was to cultivate experiences that supported a true sense of well-being and care; simply, sincerely and sustainably.
…THEN 2020 HAPPENED
A year like no other that forced me to pause, recalibrate, refine and to cultivate more clarity once again around what mattered most.
It was with a heart that was wide open, hopeFULL and tender that I made the decision to let go of the physical space of Intent Space.
Within the physical space I was confined around how I could create and offer what I envisioned for the future. In letting go I was free to create and share in the most accessible and impactful way.
I’m ready! Where I am currently…
As I started envisioning how I would now show up, the idea of returning to school to complete my journey from several years ago—becoming a licensed therapist—began to emerge. Yet, as I weighed the lengthy path to licensure, compounded by the emergence of Covid and the urgent demand for more mental health professionals, I ultimately opted for a different direction.
After years of exploring a wide range of healing modalities, it was astrology that wove everything together. It was the missing piece—the language that gave context and coherence to all the tools and practices I had gathered along the way. What once felt like separate threads suddenly formed a tapestry.
Astrology was also a deeply personal homecoming. It was a part of me I had tucked away for years, unsure if there was space for it. But once I acknowledged it, something clicked—it felt like returning to a truth I had always known.
After nearly a decade of self-study, I took the leap into a rigorous professional training with astrologer Debra Silverman. What began as a personal passion soon became the bridge between the healing arts I loved and the work I now offer to others.
Within this container, you’ll find support and encouragement to embrace life’s complexities with grace, nurture the desires of your soul, and celebrate your unique gifts. I will also hold space for you to grow with kindness, honoring the areas where transformation is ready to unfold.
In these times, this work is more essential than ever-a practice of healing, connection, and renewal that the world deeply needs.
with love, Tania
